According to Sharon Jayson in the May 6 USA Today, U.S. Census data show that in 1980, 56% of women at the end of their child-bearing years (age 44) had three or more children; by 2008, 28% of such women had three or more children. Only 10% of these women had none in 1980, but 18% had none in 2008.
