I never did get around to finishing showing photos of the 2010 St. George Parade of Homes, having been sidetracked with spring flowers, Las Vegas, and a multitude of other excuses.  For those still interested, here are a few photos from home no. 20.  I've decided that the Parade of Homes is as much or more about the decorators and the furnishings than it is the houses, since the houses would be just a bunch of empty rooms except for those with exceptional built-in features.  I apologize in advance if I duplicate anything I've run before.  If you are interested in tracking earlier Parade postings, go to "Search" to the right of the main post column, which is under "Blog powered by Typepad", then click on the blank with the little magnifying glass on the left, and type in Parade of Homes.  Or for that matter, you can look up anything else in the more than 2500 posts on this blog.

We Return, Finally, to Home No. 2 in the 2010 St. George Parade of Homes

Some how we got sidetracked with photos from every where else, so we now return to home no. 2 in the 2010 St. George Parade of Homes.  To refresh your memory, we earlier posted photos of the outside of the home, noting that the home has 11,923 sq. ft. with 5 br and 8 bathrms, $3.5 mil with lot.  It will take us awhile to work our way through a home the equivalent size of 4 or 5 other smaller homes.

   

Home No. 2 "Villa Sogni" from the 2010 St. George UT Parade of Homes: Our Favorite

Home No. 2 in the 2010 St. George Parade of Homes is a 11,923 sq. ft. home with 5 br, 8 bathrms, price with lot $3.5 mil.  My wife and I thought this home was one of the finest of the more expensive homes we have seen the past several years at the St. G. Parade of Homes, and definitely our favorite for this year. Quoting from the Parade pamphlet, "This home is situated on a spectacular lot with views that span from the Arizona Strip to Snow Canyon State Park.."  The master bedroom alone has 2100 sq. ft., or more than many small homes.  The space in this home is easily equal to that of 4-6 smaller homes, so it took us awhile to get through the entire home.  Usually we nitpik when we go through these homes, but all we could do here was "ooh and ah" and wonder how much it would cost to clean, insure, heat, cool, repair.  But then many such homes even at this price in Utah in places such as St. George and Deer Valley are merely second weekend homes for folks for whom $3.5 mil is just change.  I am usually disappointed in many of the larger and more expensive homes, but not this one.  We thought it was extraordinary and a tribute to its builder, Dave Jenson.

Tabbed as the "Ultimate Green Home," Home no. 1 has 2,272 sq. ft., 4 br, 3 bathrms, $549,000 with lot. Innovative use of Ultra Green Technologies in its walls, will "reduce net power bills next to nothing."

 

Two of the main draws for many St. George homes are (1) view, and (2) proximity to a golf course.

The Panoramic Views of St. George and Surrounding Area from the Deck of Home No. 17 "Southgate Views."

The description of Home No. 17 in the 2010 St. George Parade of Homes wasn't kidding when it said, in describing the home, "Sitting high above the Southgate Hills Golf Course, enjoy the magnificent views, from Snow Canyon to Zion National Park!"  Here are the views thus described.

The first photo shows the western part of the area of St. George between I-15 on the east and Bluff St. on the west.  The St. George LDS Temple stands out as the indelible landmark of St. George.  Please double click to see details.

View to the east.  The white buildings are all part of the Dixie Regional Medical Center, located east of I-15

The current airport in St. George sits atop this bluff.  The new airport will be relocated south and further east on flatter ground.  A large number of both commercial and private planes fly in and out of this airport daily.  This airport reminds me of when I was at Penn State and the nearest airport was about 25 miles north near Phillipsburg, I think, and was located on top of a flat-top bluff.  I used to hope the plane would take off before coming to the edge of the bluff.
