This blog is predicated on the following observations:
- There are too many fat people.
- Most fat people have been fat for a long time.
- Many, if not most, fat people have gained and lost weight repeatedly.
- Fat people are tired of being fat, but not tired enough to do much about it.
- People die and get sick from being too fat.
- Lard-size pants in Big and Tall never go on sale and cost twice as much as regular size pants.
- Fat people like to buy every diet book that comes out and try every new fad diet that shows up.
- Fat people read one or two chapters of a new anti-fat book and then put the book on the shelf or in a garage sale.
- Attention spans are short.
- A simple idea, constantly repeated to ones self, can begin and help continue the weight-loss process.
So, for the fun of it, and to see if an idea-a-day will help the Curmudgeonly Professor and others start and keep on the track to weight loss, this blog will provide one weight-loss idea each day. For example, some people say they lost weight because they cut out soda pop. Others say they quit eating white bread. Some say they started to exercise. You get the idea. Some days the post might be a book reference. Or an article link. Or just a quick one-liner. I wrote a book-length weight-loss book several years ago but no one read it. I thought maybe people would read one or two sentences a day and that repeating these sentences or ideas would make them become a habit. Maybe. I hope. And, for one thing, I hope these ideas will help me conquer my own weight problem.
